The struggle for birth rights in Australia continues. This week the health minister announced an amendment to the Midwives/Nurse Practitioners Bill which clarifies the government's understanding of "collaboration": an obstetric monopoly over maternity care. Protest rallies have been swiftly organised for a number of Australia's capital cities, including demonstrations out the front of the offices of federal members of parliament:Brisbanites
